Hi all,
just notice this section today, been on here for a few months.
Feels good to have found a bunch of people with the same addiction as me.
I love my cars, but the garage even more.
Anyways, a little about me.
i'm 23, Live in Scoudouc(outskirts of Moncton) New-Brunswick, Canada.
Me and the wife of nearly 2 years (sept. 16th) Have been in our Older renovated house for 2 years next month, its a Storey and a half thats 80 years old and has had numerous updates and a few additions.
The attached garage (30wx26dx10h) was a big part of the reason for buying this home....
I've been a Garage/Car nut since i was a child, my father is an old school street rodder (been in it since the early 70's).I've been around modified and street rodded cars all my life, so its just natural i'd end up this way.
My first english word was "coupe" and i was talking about my Fathers 1937 plymouth that was handed down to me last year.
I've built a few cars over the years as projects.
first was my 1987 GMC safari van, it was my first vehicle and had been in the family since new. At the age of 15 me and my Father started work on it, i Painted it 1998 Prowler Red, had a set of American Racing 15x8 wheels on it with 245/60R15 rubber on it, a 2.5 inch exhaust with a flowmaster muffler on it aswell as a throttle body spacer. It had the factory 3.73 gear ratio and was a blast to drive as it was faster then all my friends cars.
2 years later i decided i wanted to build an import. So i looked around for a candidate and found a 1994 VW GTI.
This build lasted only 4 months and turned out quite nice.
It got a BMW M3 Dakar yellow paintjob, 17inch wheels, lowered suspension, plenty of misc styling parts and some mild head work/Cam/chip.
This car is now my summer mothers toy.
During the period of time that i had the GTI i needed a winter beater, so i purchased a very tired and very used 1987 vw Jetta. I kept it running for nearly 3 years. During which it got a budget paintjob, used lowering springs and some other inexpensive hand-me-down mods from parts cars i stripped.
Being a tired old relatively unreliable piece or junk, its probly my favorite car i've had up to date. Probly cause it was while i was in college and i had no money to keep it going and eveythign was patched together on it.
Finished College, bought a newer car, 2001 Vw Passat.
This was my next mild build. It was the 1.8 20v Turbo motor, with a 5 speed.
I put on a 60mm lowering kit with bilstein struts, brembo rotors, hawk pads, big meaty 17x8 wheels with 225/45R17 rubber on it.
Drove it for one entire summer, enjoyed it but couldnt afford to keep it.
It got traded in for a 2004 Golf TDI (this was december 2004) and i started my carreer as a traveling salesman with a car allowance.
While i decided to sell the Passat, i bought my 1989 Scirocco as a project car, and this is now my main project as well as the 37.
Golf was traded last summer on a 2006 Legacy (can't beat awd in snow
)
and thats about it.
