Success! I think. When pressurizing the lines with air, can hear sounds coming from just under the foundation where the city water enters the house. Will try to hand dig it a little tomorrow to confirm and then open it up with an excavator Monday morning.

Yep, I don’t like it. I told a fellow the other day that I have a PHD, but that I am getting too old and tired to use it. It took him bit to realize I meant Post Hole Digger.

I will go down 2 feet with a PHD and see if I hit water.

Edit to add: local rental place was booked out on excavators when I stopped in yesterday morning. I could probably do it with my front end loader, but I would have to move a lot more dirt than really necessary.
