Insulation question (against roof)

Hi all, long time no post, but now I have a new shop and garage (and am wifeless ) and need to get it ready for work.

Location: NW Connecticut

The shop is an old structure (attached to a relatively new garage), with the walls covered with wood 1x6 or so. So far, it's not heated at all, but it will be eventually, so I need to insulate it. Cheaply.

Walls seem fine. I can take down the wood, put fiberglass in, and put the wood back up. The ceiling has sad, messy drywall, so that comes down, fiberglass goes up, and I'll cover it with metal or plastic probably. Above that is a floored attic space that I intend to leave unheated.

My question concerns the small (4-5ft high by 25ft or so width) area where the wall is connected to the ceiling by the roof. Can I insulate directly against that? If not, what's the best cheap option?

I tried multiple spray foam quotes. That just isn't happening in my budget, unfortunately....

Is there any roof ventilation to speak of? Will the insulation block the path of ventilation? What is the roof construction (shingle, terracotta, metal, etc.)?

The attic is partially open to the garage, has vents to the foyer, and has a window. The first two things will have to be dealt with when I am able to heat. It's a weird setup.

Insulation won't block anything, and the roof is asphalt shingles.

I know it's hard to picture. I'll get pics as soon as I can.

Correct.

It isn't ideal, but you can go ahead and place insulation there. Understand that a "hot roof" setup like that will typically result in reduced shingle life, though maybe not in CT (no idea how hot it gets there in the Summer).
