Anyone out there with an Ingersoll Rand 2340 compressor that I could run some questions by? Trying to get one up and running. Think I have a bad pressure switch but not sure. Thanks!
Pressure switch is pretty simple to diagnose... they usually work or they don't. It either won't cut off as the receiver pressure exceeds the upper setting, or it won't come back on when the pressure drops below the lower setting.
This one has an ON/OFF switch. If I flip it on, I have continuity on the L1 circuit, but nada on the L2 circuit.
When ON, it should open the "path" on both, right?
Motor shouldn't have to be hooked up to test the switch, right?
Also, is there "5HP" switch I need over this one? This what Grainger calls for as the replacement (3HP rated). Motor is a 5HP Emerson, 3450 RPM, FLA 21.5. Ideally, I don't want a Chinese switch, but if it will work I guess.
My suspect switch (if it was not swapped) says 26 FLA for 240. 135PSI on 175 off. No info on the sticker as far as HP rating.
Must have had a ghost in the switch messing with me. Checked it last night, continuity was fine on both poles, hooked it back up today and it is working like a champ! Bizarroworld. Maybe it wasn't flipping all the way down. Who cares...it works.
