When I was googling to learn about this box, the most helpful search hits were from this website. Thanks for your knowledge!

I've had inherited tools for 20 years now, and with no kids of my own, am beginning the sad task of preparing for a giant garage sale. I was never the handyman my GF was, so I only used probably 25% of his things regularly. He did it all. Cars, electric (worked at Westinghouse), carpentry.

This box from Kennedy Kits, I'm wondering if there is a trick to placing it's exact year of manufacture? One person mentioned the key in the middle latch, which this box has (keyhole but no key). Also, people have talked about plastic slides, yet all these drawers have metal all the way. There is some rust, but nothing is rusted through. It cleaned up nice with a wd40 rubdown. (another tip I just learned thanks to you folks)

Best guess is this is from the 40s, as GF was born in 1925 and had most of his tools since he was a young man. He did that kind of work as soon as he got out of the Navy (gunners mate, WWII)

Again, I'm just getting started ID'ing things I don't know about. Like a 40's Bonney B21 lock ring pliers, or the Snap On B3404A Brake tool that I thought was some kind of offset chisel. : )

Hi, welcome, a picture would really help to narrow a range down. Kennedy boxes are a bit difficult to put an exact date on as they were never stamped. There are a few details that can help to narrow it down though. You already mentioned it has a latch in the middle over just a round lock. Next, does it have round or square corners on the top lid, front and back?

Pictures would definitely help with identifying, even more things than your toolbox! Where are you located? Depending on where you are, some guys on here might be willing to come out and help you avoid even having to have a garage sale!

Thanks guys, and sorry for the delay. Just finding out I don't get emails when I get a reply. Probably a way to fix that so I'm gonna look at my profile after this.

I'm in Culpeper, VA, about 45 min from Charlottesville. I have family in Baltimore, and a truck, so I can get most things up that way if needed. I'm selling the house and will be buying up there when it's sold.

It has rounded corners. Here are a few pics from my phone. Sun is going down so if too dark I'll take more tomorrow.

Beatcad? Is that a town? In any case, I'm leaving around noon for the weekend. I'm here most of the time though. Even weekdays. Just not this weekend.

Cheers
