Kobalt 1/2" Corded Impact

I have been researching corded 1/2" impacts to have in my garage for pulling wheels and an upcoming shock/strut job on high mileage suv. I was considering a Harbor Freight corded impact but after researching I think I will spend the extra money and get the Kobalt impact. I have seen multiple youtube reviews of the Kobalt impact pulling fasteners from lug nuts to axle nuts to Honda crank pulley bolts with ease and the users giving thumbs up to its performance. I do not have a compressor so the air option is not possible for me.

You guys have experience with this Kobalt 1/2" impact?

Do you have any hints on when to get it cheaper than the list price such as special sales or coupons? I don't have a lot of experience with Lowes but I have more time than money if there is something I should be looking for to get a great deal.

I bought it a couple of months ago, after watching the same videos you mentioned. Regular price was about $150 when I started looking at it, then it went down to $130 around Black Friday, and finally, at the beginning of December, it dropped to $99.00. That's when I got it. I have not used it yet to rotate my tires, so I won't comment on its performance, but this is obviously a great quality tool and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Good luck.

I had the HF one and it actually works fine. I would just get that one and if you find yourself using an impact more, then just upgrade to air down the road. If you are using an impact regularly then you'll like air for the smaller size alone.

I've been using it to rotate my tires for the past two or three years. It works like a charm - I had been using a flex handle.

It only has 350-ft-lbs of torque so there is no way it will take out a Honda crankshaft bolt.

The Kobalt is pretty impressive for the power level against the HF gun.

I had one and I hated it. No brake on the Anvil, stupidly large and heavy, and not enough power for the jobs I wanted. If you are using it just for tires, then it works. It hardly fits anywhere else though (8 or 9 inches long I think, plus the socket).

I was gonna say, buy a craftsman 19.2 volt 1/2" impact. No cords and cheaper than corded Kobalt impact with almost same/better specs.

That Real Tool Review of the two corded impacts was very telling.

I'm passing on any CL deals on HF corded . . . and waiting on Lowes to dump all the corded units once they only sell cordless !! That should be when the Kobalt corded impact is bottom dollar.

I'm not sure what your time frame is, but I don't think they're ever going to stop selling corded impacts...

I been wanting a corded impact. Would a reconditioned Milwaukee with 1 yr warranty be a better deal? I remember I have seen them on Ebay for around $100. Price wise should be similar with the Kobalt impact.
