I'm a long time lurker and a short time poster on this site and I got to tell you I love watching the arguments go back and forth. I grew up and worked my whole life in construction and I found its the people who make the difference. Corporations need to figure out that they make their name (and money) where the rubber meets the road. I've had crappy warranty dealings Sears and Lowes and...I even had a SnapOn guy ask me where I got an older ratchet that exploded-I think it was older than I was-He replaced it but he wasn't happy about it. It was a gift from the original purchaser-part of a package deal I got when I married his daughter.

Is menards decent about their warranty ?
<snip>

In my limited, but recent, experience--yes. No problem at all. Irwin bit holder didn't work, took it in, took two minutes, left with a new one. I had it long enough they had changed the appearance, but the tool dept. mgr. confirmed it didn't work and even went and fetched the new one for me. :thumbup:

I have a brief addition for the Kobalt hand tool replacement warranty thread. I just replaced a six-way screwdriver with little to no problem. The Hardware staff member took me to find a replacement tool--it didn't match exactly, different color scheme--we found the closest one. He walked with me to the Returns desk, explaining that that was how they handled replacements. The Returns clerk did ask for my Driver's License, recorded it and handed it right back. She asked me to sign a register slip--cash return. Then she gave the tool and a new sales slip to me and that was it.
