I didn't think I would run into this.

Sortimo had blue trimmed charcoal L-Boxxes on a good price. I bought a couple. I then bought the 2pc. 136 (L-Boxx 2) inserts for drill/driver and 1pc. 136 insert for 1-hand recip. saw (6.082.850.6D4) which lightly heated, allowed my Hackzall to fit. So far, so good with Bosch inserts in Sortimo boxes.

I bought the big Bosch 1/2" impact and 1 600 A02 58Y and a non-flashy colored L-boxx from a vendor that gets mentioned on here. First test fit was the insert for 1-hand recip. saw (6.082.850.6D4) into the new "L-Boxx" branded boxx. The thin plastic sits on top and does not fit down into where it should. It's 16-5/16"

Hmm. Well, the foam 1 600 A02 58Y probably drips right in, right? Nope. Its 16-15/16" and sits up top too.

The new Boxx is just over 16" inside. The Sortimos, over 17". In my 2nd pic, the new drops into the old. can't be the only one, but I do realize these inserts are less common in N. America. Anyone have experience with these?

The short answer is, it’s a mess. (I left Bosch; Sortimo/L-Boxx behind a long time ago and never looked back.)

Bosch (which essentially owns Sortimo), decided to go with a new design. With today’s Sortimo nomenclature that is: L-Boxx G4.

The ‘old ones’, by that same nomenclature, are L-Boxx G.

There also used? to be a cheaper variant called L-Case which had serious limitations in terms of compatibility with the other two.

Sortimo is also coming out with a whole new style of cases, to compete with DeWalt, Milwaukee, (…) in the market of ‘rugged’ weatherproof/on-site cases.

The tool specific inserts do not mix well. Some fit with minor alterations, some don’t fit at all. Some are available for the new cases, some are not. (…)

There used to be a comprehensive list of what fits what on the, now scrapped, Bosch Professional Forum/ ‘BOB Forum’ that Bosch Professional offered/hosted for many years. This specific list was on the German forum.

Bosch re-designed those forums as well, it was never the same afterwards in terms of ease of accessibility/ finding old threads/ information. They got all scrapped in December ‘24.

Your best bet in getting first hand information about compatibility of inserts, what the correct product# for the correct insert is, if you are on Facebook, to go to Facebook & join this private group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/boschptfan/ and ask your question there. The admin of that group is https://www.youtube.com/@BoschPTFan

You won’t get better/ more reliable advice than from him/ the fine people inside that group.

I’m not on FB, I never transitioned, just left it all behind many moons ago. So please take my posting with a grain of salt, I don’t know the current state of affairs of it all - as it doesn’t affect me at all anymore.

The Bosch tools I have are not in L-Boxxes.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Olli

Thank you very much for your helpful reply. I had no idea the new cases had new insert availability. Or that newer versions and old inserts had incompatibility.

I definitely scrounged for information tp come up with my own list of inserts. But, I am only buying a tool at a time. I can deal with modifying inserts, which I did with the Bosch insert for my Milwaukee Hackzall.

Did you possibly begin using Bosch inserts in another brand of boxes? It seems like I will have to continue taking a caliper and ruler into stores to answer questions.
