Might barter some work for a Dell that will be my garage computer, anyone recomend any good current PC software that can be used for auto stuff? I already have a handheld, but looking to expand if the PC can do more. Suggestions/sites/companies to read up on?

I'm watching this one - would be intrested in the same but something that will force actions in the control system like the Tech 2 does, gauge sweep, actuate soleniods / switches etc contolled by ECM/BCM

I hear alot about Autoingenuity but I've never tried it. I stull haven't found a good solution. I was thinking of getting a pass through and getting the software online.

How hard is it to move Autgenuity from one laptop to another if a person upgrades?

Good reading for those different options....thanks.

Which of those posted allows you to "talk" back to the car? I would not be opposed to buying the software then buying programs for each car I work on, as it is mainly my own plus friends.

Both autoenginuity and ease do to varying degrees.

True full oem function? Not for several models. On the other hand, they do get updated to include more as time goes on, AND there are many times where you may not actually be using bi-directional anyways.

Often simply logging or observing various readings gives you enough clues to dig out your multimeter or lab scope to "finish the job". After all, the scan tool is only the beginning of the job. You will still be using various mechanical or electronic testers to verify sensor readings.

I have autenginuity and am happy with it. Have moved several laptops without an issue. It seems the reader has a serial in it, if it is valid it runs.

The ford bundle works great with my powerstroke. I do wish the VW was more like the VAG-COM in the programming instead of just reading codes.
