Large garage floor question

So I have been reading on the thread here and have some questions about how to tackle my garage floor project. I also have recently moved and have a large 1200 sq ft garage. At some point the previous owners had painted or epoxied the floor and it has failed. It is peeling and chipping very badly. I am in the process of removing the coating. It is difficult in some spots. I rented the diamabrush coating removal tool but find it difficulties to get the floor completely free in some spots. My plan now is to use the 7 inch grinder with the tool to get it all off. I am noticing some circular marks in the floor from the tools.

Assuming that is successful, do I need to etch the floor or use another grinder to prepare the floor for coating.

Also what would be your advice for a coating that is fairly cost effective. The garage will be used to park 2 cars, some workout equipment, but no major shop work, etc. I am looking for a product that will last as I do not want to go through this process again. I got a quote from an installer at 4.75/sq foot for An epoxy floor that included grinding the floor prior to application.
