Unless you're working on heavy equipment you'll never need striking wrenches. Over the past 40 years or so I think I can only remember three times where Dad or I needed a striking wrench. And that was only one size.

I just brought my box of large tools home yesterday, and put all of the big flat wrenches in a separate box and removed everything above 1 1/8 + 36mm from my main shop tool box. The big wrench box will move to the special tools and manuals shelving - as I seldom need them. Removing my tool boxes from "day job client" shop is some kind of "I am retired" statement - but I will be doing one job for them next few days (out of my own shop though) and finishing up another design/build project next week (also at home). If the "big wrench" box doesn't get opened over next year or so, I might just move them to my on farm shop (where I have heavy equipment that can't fit in or come to my home shop).

My current wrenches go to 36mm in metric and 2" in SAE. Is there any need for anything larger in Automotive and Light trucks? A buddy has some stuff that goes to 2 1/2" and I was considering picking it up if there is a use for them. Thanks fellas.
Typically sets that go to 1 1/4" and 30mm are fine. Where the larger ones come in handy is with hydraulics.

Much cheaper to just buy singles for what you actually need if it’s not a regular need.
