Lathe belt Help!!

I have an Enco Taiwan 12 x 36 bench lathe, 1984 approx. It has been a good machine and has many hours of use. The main belt has given up and I'm struggling to figure out how to get the "Jack-shaft" out in order to replace the belt. This version has the shaft built inside of the main box casting at the back. I have the main spindle and the back-gear out already. The Shaft pivots on a pin "to tension the belt after switching speeds", but I'm not seeing how to get this assembly out of the box. There is a collar with a set-screw that is loose, but the pivot pin still seems to be held by something, and even if I get it loose appears to be too long to get it out of the assembly. Has anyone ever been into one of these?

Is it Vee belt driven? If so, just get a link belt, and be done with it. You'll get less vibration that way anyway.

Thanks to those thinking on this for me. The solution is that the pivot shaft does come out through the side of the casting box. It was body filled and painted so well that you could not tell there was a hole there.
