So I have a metal lawn roller that was given to me. It gets the job done but not well. There are leaks at seams and the plug isn't the greatest. When I say it isn't the greatest, I mean that I have to be REALLY careful to not tear it up while removing. The wife was just given a poly roller which is missing the plug. Before I go out and buy the same plug that tears up, is there a plug out there that you use that you like and doesn't tear up when you remove it?

The style I have is a wedge with washers on the outsides and a bolt through it. When you tighten the bolt it expands and holds water in.

I've always used the one pictured and never had a problem. I bet the one you're using is worn out from being dry. If the rubber gets dry and cracked it's not going to last long or hold water. Put a little plumber's grease on it from time to time.
