LED Christmas lights, one section dead, how to fix?

Got a string of LED lights strung up outside. There's a section in the middle of the strand where the lights are barely illuminated -- so while they are getting some power it's really not enough to see them at night. How do I figure out what the problem is and fix it?

When I initially up them up all of the bulbs were working. So after about two weeks this suddenly happened.

Sounds like a bad diode, you will most likely have to pull each of the lights in question out and check them individually. Because they are diodes, they are polarity sensitive and must be installed correctly or they can be damaged resulting in exactly what you are experiencing now.

Many times for the average person it’s not worth the time and effort. Simply just buying a new cord set for most people is the ultimate solution.

Correction, the section that is dim can be seen at night but they are definitely dimmer than the surrounding sections.

Thanks C96. I have a diode test function on my multi-meter...sigh...they're in their sockets pretty good, will need my wide-blade lineman's pliers to pull 'em. Gotta keep the missus happy

I've gone out after the holidays and picked up a few sets of lights to have as backups. That way if one set goes bad and a simple check doesn't do the trick I throw a new set on.

I just cut that section out, you should have 3 wires one going to the working set, just cut the none working off and move the plug.
