LED Extension Cord Size?

I just bought a dozen linkable 5000 lumen LED lights from SAM'S Club and I'm abount 10 inches short of being able to link them (4-lights linked together in 3-rows) together.
I found some 12" extension cords on Amazon that should be exactly what I need, but they're 16 awg. Is 16 awg large enough to use for these lights or should I make up my own cords out of 14 awg? I googled & looked through LED lighting material, as well as old posts here on the Journal, but with no luck. I could take one of the lights apart, but if anyone knows for sure, it'd save me time (as well as the risk of screwing one of the lights up) and be much appreciated.

What's the amperage of the lights you're using?

Also, what size of cord is already on the lights?

I would match (or go bigger) the size of the cord already on the lights... but that's me.

My guess is that they used 18 gauge originally !

The 16 gage will handle the very small amount of current from 4 lights.

But let’s do the math. Each fixture uses 50 watts. 50w/120v= .42 amps x 4 lamps=1.7 amps

If you decide to use the extension cord be aware it is a code violation to use it for more than a few days, only allowed for temporary use.

Thanks for the replies. The lights are 50w and there will only be 4 lights linked together in each string, so at 1.7 amps, a 12 inch extension between each lamp should e OK and they're available, so looks like I'm good to go.
