New garage attached. 25x25 with 9' ceilings. Epoxy floor, high gloss drywall, heated.
Last house I used T20's (4-8' fixtures in a 4 car garage). I want as much if not more. The light was VERY key to being able to work on my vehicles in the garage. I very rarely used portable lighting even underneath working on my vehicles.
I currently have 2-T20's temporarily mounted, another in the basement, and planning overall to do 4 of them. I want maximum light to reflect, and potentially to do some accent lighting around the perimeter so I am looking for suggestions honestly.
Here is what I need help with:
- I read somewhere here that T20's are old tech, but I already have 3-8' units would like to use. What is the new alternative, and why?
- Are 4-8 foot T-20's enough? I think probably since that is alot of light. Just curious on this forum's opinion. Honestly I am hoping someone replies with some unique layouts of lighting to give me ideas. Do I mount them all lengthwise, or due to the way the light is thrown, should I turn some 90 degrees?
- If I put some small cans in the ceiling all the way around the perimeter, can I put insulation above the cans? Maybe cool CFL's or smaller low voltage ones, dunno. Ideas welcome.
Side note, I am really considering putting in new cabinets floor and wall. If I do that, I would put under cabinet lights, and some really cool color glowing LED's at the kick panels hidden shining down at the floor.
