Hi everyone, I am looking for suggestions with lighting placement , how much light , type of lights etc... I have a new garage 28 wide x 40 long x 10 ceiling and planning on using either solid vinyl soffit or metal panels for the ceiling.
Since my options are abundant with this being new construction other than having to charge everything at HD or Lowes I want to get this right. Does anyone know about some general practices for installing new lighting and have any ideas about the best material to use. It will be used for light mechanical work and woodworking. I should also mention here that I prefer a well lit room and that working in my own shadow drives me crazy.

Thanks, Riven

Have you tried doing a search in this forum? There are a lot of posts about this. Two things I'll suggest are T8 fluorescent strip fixtures and having around 100 lumens of light per square foot. One 4ft T8 F32 lamp has about 2600Lu of light output. For your garage that is about 12 (8ft - 4lamp - T8) fixtures.
