lighting question for a 14' x 24' garage ....

I have a 14' x 24' garage with 9'2" ceilings. I was figuring on using 4' T8 fixtures that are 2 bulb. Going to use the garage for misc odd projects ... small trim cutting projects, changing oil in vehicles, polishing and waxing cars. How many fixtures would you use and how would you place them. Garage is completely drywalled and painted white also. On one of the short walls I have a 2' deep work bench and cabinets. I just got back and have 5 fixtures and 10 5000K bulbs for them but am not sure if that will be enough and how to place them. Any advice would be great. Searched a lot but can't find someone that close to my situation. thanks

You basically have the same size shop that I do for woodworking. I have the exact same number of fixtures, but mine are of a lower quality that what you are describing. I have one fixture over the main workbench and it is enough light, although at times I wish they were T8's. I think you'll be fine. My ceilings are 8'.

My lights are in a different arrangement due to the cabinets and such.

I have a darker spot at the far end due to the garage door being close to the ceiling and thus not allowing any fixtures there, but I don't work much at that end.

J my garage is 21' deep by 25' wide . I have 7 2 tube 4' fixtures and one 4 tube 4' all with 6500K bulbs in them . I think you will be fine with what you have planned although I will add if you are going to be doing much detailing in the space you might think about adding some fixtures to the side walls . Maybe 2 fixtures on each wall this will help eliminate shadows while you are waxing and polishing. I dont know if you have ever been in a Pro paint booth but most of them have lights in the walls and I have heard alot of detailers mention they help alot .

Thanks. I'm still not set on what I'm going to use. thought about even putting in 10 or so recessed can lights. Not sure what would be the best thing.
