Hi Everyone, as the title states I am looking to add a universal pulley holder. Not to sure on brands but thought Garage Journal team can help me out.

Some brands I see coming up often. (Bilitools, Otc etc)

Interesting to see the red one is just like the otc.

Otc is roughly double in price which I don't mind if it truly is a much better product then others.

Harbor freight has one that looks like the first one you posted, no experience with it.

I have and use the first pic version, Matco branded. It works just fine, although it is a little on the flimsy side for removing a very tight camshaft bolt or something.

I have the OTC that looks like the first one. As said, it's a bit flimsy for something that's at a very high torque. I woudn't expect any of them to be indestructible.

It is hard to tell from the photos, but you are looking at two sizes. Top one is for smaller stuff, bottom one is for bigger stuff. I have the OTC in the big one, works fine. On a lot of these cased specialty tools, there are a bunch of knock-offs of some OG tool - they generally all work. Often replacement parts are interchangeable.

Just posted about impact sockets and have to ask:

Are you counter holding a pulley while you remove a fastener with an impact or a wrench or socket?

If you are counter holding for an impact, go cheap. If you are using a hand tool, buy the beefier model

If you have easy access to TOPTUL, which in America we don't, you can't beat the quality of their stuff for the money. Five years ago I sold TOPTUL and for the thousands of dollars of product I shipped I only had one claim which was a universal joint. People liked their stuff so much that they would agree to my special order demands which were: You pay up front, you wait until I place an order, and when it came in, several months later, I sent it to you. Even with these admittedly stringent conditions people were more than willing to buy thousands of dollars worth of TOPTUL from me. If that isn't an endorsement for the brand I don't know what would be.
