Looking for low torque tool options

This is work related, trying to find a low torque powered tool for fastening hardware. Found a low torque adjustable adaptor but it was limited to 300 rpm. We check rpm on an ir 2135 and it well over 7000rpm freewheeling. Anyone have any recommendations? 50 ft lbs max, might not be possible just looking.

A Milwaukee 12v 1/4" impact driver is rated at 1000 inch lbs, which is 83 ft lbs. perhaps a cheaper/less powerful Bosch or Ridgid 12v impact driver would be closer to 50 ft lbs. I think Ridgid is 400 inch lbs, which is 33 ft lbs.

Why not use any cordless screwdriver. I have a Milwaukee M12 Fuel (part number 2402-20) that works great. All impacts are by nature very high speed that's how they generate their high torque ratings but if you're just driving screws that's what a screwdriver is designed to do.

Why not use any cordless screwdriver. I have a Milwaukee M12 Fuel (part number 2402-20) that works great. All impacts are by nature very high speed that's how they generate their high torque ratings but if you're just driving screws that's what a screwdriver is designed to do.

not driving screws, fastening bolts on victaulics

I have the M12 ratchet and it's strictly limited to either 30 or 35 foot pounds... this is on purpose because they're worried about people breaking fingers otherwise.

For low torque stuff it's awesome and is nice and slim.

^^^ What he said^^^ A screw driver is all you are going to find this small... Don't confuse "screw driver" with only being able to drive screws. They will spin anything you want if you have the right adapters. :)
Pick up something similar to this:

I have one similar and it works well for driving fasteners. I use a set of 1/4" drive nut runners to drive bolts and nuts.

The M18 Fuel 2753 1/4 Hex in Mode 1 is 850 RPM and probably very close to your desired 50 ft lbs.

there are copious air tools out there, many specific to a torque and stop when it reaches that torque. Some adjustable and some factory set and calibrated.

We used them on the factory floor putting computer cabinets, power panels and such together.

Its a wet environment, limited to air tools. Even then its an internal situation. Piping is constantly changing, things dont line up all the time. Be nice to have the extra power when needed.

We used to use screwguns that ran about 400 rpm. After years and years, the bean counters were able to show that they ran way too fast for our operation. The cost to us and the customer for replacing hardware and gun tips that were either damaged during installation or during removal for routine or irregular maintenance was more expensive than adding manhours to drive the fasteners by hand. There were days that I would install a couple of thousand screws and wear out a dozen or more tips. I was lucky if I didn't have to change more than a couple of dozen screws on days like that.

Part of the damage was due to the high rpms heating the fasteners as they went in or out and burning the corrosion protection and lubrication off. That induced more galling and subsequently more screws and bolts to have to be drilled out and nutplates replaced, along with the high possibility of damage to the covers or structure during drilling.

The engineering and ergonomics people worked with some suppliers and set guns up with as low as 50 rpm speeds and we still had burning problems. The final solution has ended up being that we are back to speed handles and torque wrenches, with way less hassles than before.

BTW...the difference in time for driving a standard MS/AN short thread screw or bolt, between an 850 rpm and a 200 rpm gun is about 1 to 2 seconds total.

Seems like a pressure regulator would do everything you want.
Possibly even on the tool, like on a paint gun.

how about a screw gun with an adj. clutch and finish with a torque wrench.
