low cost flooring option for attic room?

Hi all,

So I ended up getting my attic truss room drywalled - since the crew is here. The initial plan is to just use it for storage, but who knows down the road. Right now it is OSB (splattered with mud and soon paint). Thinking of what options I have for flooring. Was thinking something durable like Pergo but with 450 square feet, that added up quick. Maybe a coat of a gray paint so any potential spills wont soak right in? Want to make sure whatever I do is not irreversible from a future option - if it becomes a man cave or home office, etc.
Pics below.

Thanks!

We are renovating a screen porch into a dry 3 seasons room. Our plan is to use plywood cut into strips, like laying down hardwood floors. Cheap and easy.

Google "plywood flooring". The results look pretty good.

A lot of the Pergo's are about $2.50 at lowes and there are cheaper laminate floors. If you want Pergo, go to the Pro desk and tell them you are remodeling a house and see what they can do for you on price. I bought some last year for about $2.00 at the pro desk. It is holding up excellent so far. We went that route because of our big dog. The hardwood I wanted was over $5 a foot and I would have been sick with dog nail scratches on it, so we chose one of the higher end Pergo's that looks pretty real. A year and half later, still looks like new. I also put the felt under-layment from Cali under it and it deadens the sound nicely and doesn't sound like a clicky plastic floor. I had to order the felt from Lowes, not something they stock in the stores. The felt also has a thin plastic film that is somewhat moisture sealing and has peel and stick edges for the seams.

I found some laminate floor on sale at Menards for something like $.59 sq/ft with free underlayment. I did the whole attic room (apprx 16x30) for about $400 with the trim.

Went together fast and is holding up great even with the kid practicing hockey up there.

Good luck.

Randy
