Lowes Torx sockets?

I noticed something odd the Kobalt 8pc torx set is Made in China, but their individual torx bits were Made in Taiwan.

I was thinking of getting the individuals as needed. I was wondering if anyone can comment on their Taiwanese made torx bits?

I considering the HF set but I'm nearly certain those are Chinese. I also considered the golf Snap on, but I just can't justify $150 for new ebay prices. Particularly, as I'm working on saving for a new tool box.

Look for a VIM set- they are excellent.

Hf should be Taiwan.... I'd buy them before kobalt...I second the vim recommendation

I have a husky set the ex got me 6 or 7 years ago. Not sure where there made. They have held up fine so far but I dont use them often. If I had to buy a set it would be VIM

Have Snap On one's and one set of Vim, wouldn't hesitate at all in buying more Vim , long before I'd ever even think of buying any of the other brands mentioned

Unless I'm missing something only their 1/2" cut Torx bits are their only set under $70ish. Their master set looks nice. However I have a full set of e-torx and I mainly used my handled tamper proof torx drivers

Ask yourself if and why you really need them. If you are a pro, you need the sockets, but I'd get VIM. If you work on your own stuff, you should have a sense of whether or not you need alot of torx. And if you need them in large or small sizes. Typically you only need a couple of sizes per each manufacturer in the sizes 40-55 which really warrant or require a socket. The smaller sizes may require a socke for torque control, tho.

PB Swiss ts is also pretty competitive on pricing if you need 3/8 drive, maybe $12-15 each (T30,40,45,50,55) and a 5 piece sect wont break the bank. You can buy power bits in the smaller sizes for torque control (using a holder socket). But don't go down the rabbit whole with them as it will ultimately hurt your wallet.
