M.C. Ogden snips.

I cleaned up a pair of tin snips I got over the weekend and uncovered the name M.C. Ogden NY. I cant find anything on them. Has anyone ever come across this stamp before?

I found a US Patent listing a Mortimer C. Ogden as the inventor.

The patent is for Scissors or Shears.

The Patent is US606472a, with a filing date of Dec 6, 1897,
and a publishing date of Jun 28, 1898

I found an Obituary for Mortimer C. Ogden.

Amongst other things he was the president of the Eagle Lock Company of Terryville Conn.

He was also president of the Southington Cutlery Company of Southington Conn.

And possibly most significantly to your shears, he was director of Peck, Stow & Wilcox Company of Southington Conn.

Peck, Stow & Wilcox was later known as Pexto, and was known for making sheetmetal and blacksmithing tools.
