Mac tools are comparable in quality and price. My only complaint with them is that they are slightly more bulky than Snap-on. I do prefer Mac ratchets over Snap-on though.

I've got a bit of both. I concur that Mac ratchets are superior (in my very small mind) to Snap-On, but nothing compares to the feel of a Snap-On wrench. By and large, the prices of Mac tend to be a little more reasonable relatively speaking and the quality is very close.

Be careful

Not all MAC stuff is made by MAC here in the USA. They are owned by the Stanely Corp... and some stuff is being outsourced to Taiwan.

If you look closely, so of the stuff being branded as MAC is actually "manufactured for MAC" and is damn close to the same thing branded by Stanley made in Taiwan and on sale at your local Walmart!

Case in point:

I guess I shouldn't be suprised, but check out the "Taiwan" stamp in the second large picture:

My new question is due to a theft of my wrenches will I see a big diffrence between Mac Ks2 wrenches, and my flank drive plus wrenches. I can almost get twice as many of the macs compared to the snap ons for the price.

They broke into my garage and got all my tools 30,000 plus my insurance company got all my tools but cut me a check for the wrenches so I thought maybe I'd try macs out, the snap ons are great but sometimes mar the fastner.

I do have a locking box but didn't have it locked. I was finishing the inside of my garage and it was late so I didn't lock up the box. Good lesson I guess now all my boxes are locked.

If you liked working with the Snap-on wrenches you will be disapointed with the Mac wrenches. Don't fit in the hand as nicely. they work as well, but again are a little more bulky.

Pretty sure all the Mac Precision sockets are made in Taiwan, weirdly enough they're the only sockets I have ever manged to break, the 10mm is cracked in 3 different places, the 13mm is cracked in one place.. and I have been chasing the Mac Guy for along time trying to get them replaced.

Great sockets for working on rust and damaged nuts/bolts though.. and I got mine decently cheap.

The hammers I believe are Proto rebrands, I also have a few reducers that are proto rebrands as well. (alot cheaper from proto)

All the Expert stuff is Expert By Facom/Mac and who ever els and is all made in Taiwan.
