I was looking into the famous Matco Universal Pinless Impact Sockets with Built In Extensions and on their site I saw a version that runs on a 1/4 hex shank, which can be used in a 1/4" bit Impact Driver.

As a home gamer who doesnt own a 3/8 impact wrench, I only own a 1/2 impact wrench for heavy big work, and an M12 Impact Driver for all purpose duty, this is intriguing to me. It's limited and skips sizes, but I only wanted 8, 10, 12, 14 for Japanese JIS fasteners anyway.

My main concern is is whether I'll be limited by torque of the M12 Fuel Impact driver to use these up to 14mm effectively. My other concern is I haven't heard anyone talk about these, and I'd wonder if there's some downside of using these compared to the original style meant for 3/8" impact wrenches. Maybe these would not be powerful enough to break, but if you break with a box end wrench, you can switch to this for speed.

I have a 20V DeWalt 1/4 hex impact driver and it will remove lug nuts tightened to 90 lb-ft. I don't use it for that, but years ago someone here mentioned that it would; I thought no way with that tiny diameter shaft adapting to a 1/2 drive socket, but it does work. Yes, it's the wrong tool for that job, but my point is that you can transmit more torque than you'd think.
For the 1/2 drive similar product, Astro recently came out with a set.

Do the built-ins have better torque transfer? I chose sets of Husky 1/4" socket adapters in 2.5" & 6"
and my little M12 Fuel Driver can hit most anything under 17mm (but will do 4Runner lugs nuts in a pinch).
I figure I can choose just about any socket, and if an adapter breaks, quick trip to HD for a swap.
