Messed up concrete patch - my bad

Mixed up some concrete based floor patch for a 5x5 area over existing concrete. It started out well but then it started to set up quickly and I left some trowel marks I knocked a few down with a floor scraper within an hour after I poured it. That kind of helped but it's still fairly rough and now it's really hardened. I was going to lay down some floating type 'fake tile' flooring over the area. Any ideas to recover from my poor trowel work? A 2nd coat using floor leveler? Leave it alone and let the floating floor hide my crappy craftsmanship? Grinder? The area is pretty flat - just bumpy...

If you have an angle grinder you can buy a masonry wheel for it and just knock down the high spots, if you're going to cover it up anyway, all you need is a surface smooth enough that the thin set will let the tile lay smooth.

I could do that. I have the grinder and masonry wheels (and dust mask). The "tile" is actually the floating floor that doesn't need thin set. It just clicks together over a sheet of underlayment. So maybe start laying down the floor and grind away any high spots that effect the floor.
