Long time lurker, first post. The topic has probably been done to death but I couldn't seem to find a situation sufficiently similar to mine. I currently have a 24'x40' uninsulated metal clad pole building. I don't have a problem with the building itself sweating, just the things inside the building sweating. When conditions are just right I can walk in and find the floor soaked and vehicles dripping. This usually occurs on rainy, warmer than usual days in the winter (east central PA). Since I need more room anyway, I am planning to put up a 10'x40' lean-to up along the back of the current buding. I intend to wall this area off from the current building and insulate and condition this space with an appropriately sized mini-split. I plan to use 2x12s for the rafters. I have read a ton of conflicting data regarding insulating the roof. I did not intend to create an attic space so to speak, I just wanted to insulate appropriately and then cover with OSB screwed directly to the rafters. My question is how to appropriately insulate this space against the roof. One recommendation was to put rigid foam against the steel between the purloins, followed by kraft faced fiberglass, then cover from the underside with OSB or drywall (OSB is my intent). That sounds good but would allow for zero airflow within that space. Another recommendation was to hang kraft faced batts between the rafters so as to leave an air gap between the insulation and the steel and venting said air gap with perforated soffit. Number three was to spray closed foam directly to the roof, then fiberglass batts, then OSB/drywall. I've seen others but these seem to make the most sense to me. Oh, and once cured theconcrete floor will be sealed with Rustoleum solvent based epoxy floor paint, just like the current building (stuff is easy to clean and tough as nails).
