Does anyone have the 2.5 amp hour high output batteries and did they make a difference?

I like the small profile of the compact batteries but they didn’t get it for me this past couple weeks with the cold temps. They literally were making my impact stumble with no load.

I switched to some larger batteries and they were fine. Still down on power due to the cold but the tools worked. I have a bunch of M12 from the 2.0 through 6.0 but like the small size of the 2.0 for keeping a drill or impact in my bag.

Do the 2.5 ho batteries make the tool more useful in the compact frame size?

Some tools need the HO batteries, so if you want the full power of them, the 5 will outperform the 4/6 and the 2.5 will outperform the 2.0.

Torque Test chanel did testing with the gen2 stubby 3/8 sqr impact on this.

I have both the 2.5 and 5ah in HO, but those are the only ones I have, so I can't compare.

I use the 2.5 on my Surge, it runs well for what I use it.

I remember watching some comparison videos before buying that showed the 2.5HO was better, but I don't remember if they were with the Surge specifically.

There is a compilation spreadsheet here of the detailed (unpublished) specs of many brands' batteries. Oddly, depending on the particular sub model, it shows the M12 HOs don't necessarily deliver more current than the standard ones. But there may be other factors at play not captured in this spreadsheet, or the data could be wrong.

One thing to look at is what comes with the tool in kit form. The impact wrenches all come with either of the HOs now.

I see from that list the 6.0 batteries under perform. I got my first pair of 6.0 with a rocket light a couple years and picked up another pair during Black Friday. I guess they are good for the lights that probably don’t draw a lot of current but you want capacity for run time.
