Milwaukee m12 cordless ratchet

Just received a few Milwaukee items I ordered one of which being the 3/8 m12 ratchet this is my first set of Milwaukee tools I looked through the manual trying to figure out if the led light near the head could be turned off with the battery in it? Currently when a battery is in it the light just stays on

For a couple of seconds after use and then it turns off.

Yep it should time out. If not the unit is defective. Return to retailer or use Milwaukee e-service for warranty
