Mini split help.

I have a 12k pioneer mini split. It will blow hot/cold air but will freeze up relatively quickly. I have been waiting on the HVAC guy since about August. There is an insane shortage of plumbing, hvac, and electrical where I live. The fact that they didn’t install it, I know isn’t helping. I am almost certain is low on refrigerant. Any suggestions on how I can get it working correctly?

It almost certainly needs to be recharged if it's freezing up (or it has a stuck EEV). But if it does need to recharge, it also has a leak that needs to be found and fixed.

Locally it’s very tough to find HVAC or appliance technicians willing to work on something they didn’t sell. People order online or buy from a box store, then get pissed off when nobody will even look at their system when inevitably there’s an issue, be it small or large.

I sort of fell into this trap, and, now that I’m older and have better things to do than appliance or hvac repairs, I’m looking at future service availability when considering the savings with these purchases.

If you really wanted you could get something like this for whatever refrigerant you need. Being a mini-split it really needs all pulled out and weighed properly, but if you are desperate.....
