I am getting ready to start my mini split air conditioner for the first time
after installing my self.
My Hvac guy is coming tomorrow to vacuum the lines. It is getting cooler outside. Is there a minimum "safe" outside temperature that is required to run the compressor just to make sure everything works OK. Temps here the last couple days were in the mid to high 50,s. Will the compressor "kick In" at these kinds of temperatures just to test the unit ?

Unless it has a low pressure cut out it will run but you should not run it with such a low ambient. Wait until it is warmer than 65 or better yet 70 and you will be good to go.

Mini splits are used commercially all the time in places where cooling is required, even when outdoor temperatures get cold. 50's should be fine. 30's.... and you may have issues.
