Modine hotdawg conversion to gas.

Hey guys. Have a modine hotdawg that I’ve ran on propane for the past 13 years. I’m in the middle of converting it to natural gas. I just did the gas conversion with the regulator spring swap and the three jet change. It has the Honeywell valve in it. Is there any other adjustment I need to make to the valve other than the spring swap?

Once you get the gas hooked up and running you will need a manometer and check manifold gas pressure after the gas valve, and adjust that regulator spring you swapped out.

Yes, on any new install or converted gas furnace/heater the gas pressure needs to be checked and adjusted.

I have found gas furnaces with burned out heat exchangers with the manifold pressure set nearly 2X recommended pressure. The hight gas pressure took out the heat exchanger. I have also seen furnaces with gas pressure half of what it is supposed to be set. Lower is usually not a problem as far as damaging the unit, but you will get half the output.

2-3 feet of clear vinyl tubing and water with food coloring would do the same job with little expense.
