Morton Buildings?

As I said in a earlier post I'm in the process of doing some clearing on my property to build a 30x30 building almost completed. Was wondering if anyone has used Morton? They have been a around along time so I thought they may be a good company to deal with. If anyone could give there experience with Morton and cost of a similar building I would appreciate it! Pics would help also,,,,thanks,,

They are big in that part of the country. When I lived in central Ill., it seemed like all the steel buildings were Mortons. Don't have any first hand experience though.

My brother in law just had a Morton building put up. He researched it and looked at a few. Morton used treated 6 x 6 for the poles and the lower portion of the walls are backed with OSB. He's happy. Morton was even cheaper that some of the others. And some used 2 x 6 's bolted together for the poles. But he lives only 20 miles from Morton. Could of been the reason for the price difference.

My father put up a Morton building 35 years ago. Still standing and looks good. But did have to be repainted about 8 years ago.

A guy I work with put one up about 4 years ago and he's really happy with it. We're in northeast Indiana.

I just had a Morton building put up. They weren't the cheapest quote I got, but they seemed to be the best company and quality. I felt more comfortable writing a check to them than the others.

Everyone I worked with at Morton was pretty good. My sales guy did a good job, the builders were awesome.

Mine is 42x75 (roof split 15' and 10'). I've got lots of pictures of the entire process. I'll post some of them in the Garage Gallery. If you want more, email me, I'd be happy to share them with you.

I went with Astro Buildings out of Omaha NE, they were way cheaper than Morton and I could see no quality differences in the materials.

My excavator said Morton's were the best ones out there. More expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I elected to go with a popular local company. Their quality and reputation were excellent and since they are in my township, they know all the ins and outs in dealing with the township and code inspectors because they work with them all the time. That was well worth it to me.

Speaking of poles, Using 2x6's lamenated together allows the pressure treating to soak into more of the wood than if it was a 6x6 solid post. Also it allows them to place the boards in an opposing fashion to minmize warping. You would think it would be weaker than a solid 6x6, but in fact its a better designed pole!

My brother put up a 30 x 40 in 1996 --Morton he did the concrete , electrical (He is a journeyman) heat, air --etc --Has $ 21,000 in it

My nephew put same basic buiding up in 2000 30 x 40
He has about $24,000 in his --all done, heat, air .etc again he is electrician


I had Morton give me a "ballapark" quote for 30 x 30 --just a shell , no concrete ,no nothing --$18,000 this springs

I had a guy build mine, 2 x 6 walls, all done, heat / air --sheetrocked
taped, text, painted inside outside hardy plank .. very nice garage
$28,000
