My wife & I have looking to get a mini split for 600 sq foot garage/shop & have been looking at the Mr. Cool brand. They have the 5th gen 18K btu unit, the LETO series, the easy pro series & the advantage series. I cannot figure out the differences between them. Any help appreciated. I will use it only when I am going to be working in the garage/shop not to keep it at a steady temp all the time. Why the crazy price deference? Her are the ones we were looking at.

A couple months ago a buddy and I installed a Mr Cool Advantage 36k in my garage, for the same reason you want to.

If it’s a “DIY” version, it’s going to cost you way more. The Advantage series is not DIY and requires an HVAC guy to vacuum the lines, maybe cut the lines and make a couple flares, etc.

The DIY version, you cannot cut the lines because they are sealed and don’t require vacuuming. On the DIY version, you will probably have a lot of line length left over and have to coil them up behind the compressor. I think that looks like **** and was the main reason I went with the Advantage unit.

Shop around on the Internet, you can probably find a better price than Lowe’s.

Watch several videos of Mr. Cool installs on YouTube and you’ll see what I’m referring to.

Look at Compact Living Pro. They ship for free and don’t charge sales tax. Thats where I bought mine from.

...and if you're cool with DIY'ing a non-DIY (which is pretty simple), take a look at the Gree units. The Mr. Cool units are re-badged Gree's.
