Has a bit of a mishap and the neutral to the outdoor unit got power applied to it. The 110 volt Mr Cool DIY Gen 3 had been running fine for a year or so. Did as much checking as I could to see if anything else got damaged besides the control board in the outdoor unit. Found no melted wires away from the board or melted traces running to where wires connected to the board. The inside unit had no visible damage to the circuit board. Found a new control board for just over one hundred dollars and installed it last night. The mini split is up and running now with one issue. I was not sure if some other component was damaged and would fry my new board, but all seems well.

The issue I have now is is an F2 error related to one of the three thermistors in the outdoor unit. You see in the picture below the white connector took some heat from the capacitor burning. I am now tracking down a service manual and also where to buy the thermistor harness.

Found this in a manual for a different model. If I can determine the ohms of the existing thermistors. I can make a new harness.

  • F1 - Outdoor ambient temperature sensor T4 open circuit or short circuit
  • F2 - Condenser coil temperature sensor T3 open circuit or short circuit
  • F3 - Compressor discharge temperature sensor TP open circuit or short circuit

I have lurked around here for years and found lots of good information. Thought this might help someone else.
