a bit of heater hose over or instead of the plastic thing works well. They should have redesigned the handle too.
Maybe these would work? Since discovering them I've bought a pack of 6 and use them alot for 5-gallon buckets. They should have redesigned the handle too.

You can purchase “heavy duty” plastic buckets at Lowes, that have a nicer handle. They should have redesigned the handle too.
I rarely use a paint tray. I've been using these in 5 gallon buckets for years.
I guess I give the designer high marks for innovation but I just don't see the need in my case.
Not if they want to get more paint on the walls than the floor. Gotta have room for the roller grid posted above. Plus, if using more than five gallons, gotta have a spare bucket or two to "shake" your paint--mix all of it together and then redistribute back into buckets. Nothing like a subtle (or not) shift in color or tone mid-wall.I thought the five gallon pail painters were just using the five gallon bucket the paint came in?
I've put those on a number of buckets I use regularly.Maybe these would work? Since discovering them I've bought a pack of 6 and use them alot for 5-gallon buckets.
