I've posted a few times on here, with some pictures of my poor excuse for a garage. Moving from a large shop down to a 2 car garage (took a different job) is definitely not easy for me....there used to be almost 5K sq feet for me to roam.
Anyway, an unorganized mess here:
I was going to drop some decent dough on nice cabinets, drawers, etc.. I'm not coming to the realization that there are much more important things, such as my 7 day old son
what is sleep again?
I've digressed, so on with the pics:
I added another set of lights, as you can see, as well as added storage shelving to the side room that I VCT tile'd the night before we went to the hospital. I've got enough VCT to do the garage, but I'm not sure when that might get done next.
Continuing with the I don't have much but I'm going to make it work.
I was going to move the existing cabinets in the garage into the storage room. After looking at where I'd need to move the shelves (making the hot water heater inaccessible without removing everything, I decided to re-use them in the garage.
Both of the 2 door cabinets will go on the far wall between the windows. I plan on re-using that workbench I made on the right, but raising it up to my tool box height, installing another sheet of 3/4" ply on top, backsplash, and a nice work surface. I'll enclose the back and both sides of that box, and then later either add doors, or maybe drawers and doors if I can figure out how to make them. I may need to buy another tool box just for drills/taps/measuring stuff, as it's scattered all over and a bear to find/organize.
So the plan is to line the wall w/windows with wall cabinets, a 8' work bench, and my tool box. The welding table will switch sides and go to the left of the welder, and that kitchen counter worktop will be relocated to the basement in the model airplane building room
. Engine hoist will be relocated to the back right corner, as it's not a commonly used item. Where the engine hoist stands now, I plan to line that small section of wall with pegboard, and a few aluminum trays for oil and airisol cans. Hang up the oil change/grease gun stuff on there.
Floor will be grey VCT tile, checkerboard strip 2-3' wide at the entrance, and a large black spot where the truck/SUV can park if it needs to.
The left wall will be left somewhat clean, with some more B&W garage art hung up. Compressor will go into the basement, with copper tube running to the weld table, and a hose reel hung from the ceiling next to the electrical reel.
I'd also like to run a 48" shop light under the wall cabinets after I relocate them to light the work surface, although I'm not sure if that will happen or not.
Thoughts, flames, ideas..everything is appreciated.
