Yes, plural.
We just moved to a new (to us) house. We have 2 dogs and 2 babies, so it makes sense that our house would have 2 garages (and a 2 car parking pad!).
Apparently a previous owner ran a mechanic's business from home and had the second garage built. He insulated it and the guy we bought it from was a drummer, so he "sound proofed" it.
Before this place, I had cars stashed in 3 different garages all over the city, which meant about an hour's drive between garages (without ever leaving the city limits!). For awhile I had to drive an hour or more outside of the city just to get to my car to work on it!
Here's a pic from my last garage at my old house. Brand new 2 car garage. That's my friend on the phone. This place was in a bad neighborhood. Some nice people, but I never felt too comfortable leaving the door open for long, if you know what I mean. That's my wife's 51 (yes, she built it) and my 65.
Here's some pictures of my new place. I haven't unpacked or started organizing yet, but I'm open to any suggestions you may have.
2.5+ garage.
I plan to paint the walls and organize, but that's about it. What do you think of the foam squares on the ceiling for "sound proofing". If they help, I'll leave them, but if they're a fire hazard, they have to go. This garage had a metal work table and ceiling fan when I moved in. It also has an open flame gas heater hanging from the ceiling, which I'll be selling and replacing with something safer later. The big monolith in the first pic is a metal storage cabinet I picked up for $10. I need to move it into place yet.
2 car garage.
All the stuff on the left will be put away or sold and that side will be converted into a wood-working shop for my wife... or for her next car project... whichever comes first... and she's itching for another car project!
This garage needs a new roof and has a lot of leaks, so that obviously needs to be fixed. Both garages need some siding repairs and new overhead doors.
