Ok I am new to this board however I have lurked for a while and read tons of threads on here.

Here is my story just bought this compressor on Craigslist last week. Its a 70 Gallon tank with a Brunner A212 pump and a monster 2 hp motor. Built in 1953

I dont know its history however it was sold by someone whos grandfather has just died and seemed to be clearing out all of his belongings to sell a property.

I brought it home changed the oil added a gauge and plugged it in and she fired right up and ran good I only pumped it up to 25 psi because I wasn't sure of the tank. The pump is leaking oil and will need some servicing

When I went to drain the water it came out almost clear it was on its side on my truck so it got some good slooshing around too, my 30 gallon craftsman compressor puts out rust water every time its drained this thing did nothing.

What do you guys think about the clear water in there?

I also wanted to know if anyone knows if the check valve is internal or external on one of these things? there is air coming back out of the intake and the pump is under load when it stops running so I am guessing the check valve is bad.

I can't quite tell, but if the pump discharge air goes to the tee under the pressure switch, I would say it has an external check valve. As for the clear water...I'm sure the tank has a healthy coat of oil inside it. If you are unsure, pull the 2" plug on the tank and give it a visual inspection.

I have a few pdf files that may be of interest to you. Shoot me a PM.

Thanks! I will pm you about the docs. I tried to move those plugs and couldn't even get them to budge so I just gave up on that. I pumped it up to its max and that check valve started leaking from the seams. It is definitely external just need to replace it now.
