Was given a box of loose tools recently and among the tools were two tools
that say NBMCO and then AF11 and AF10.

The AF11 is a two handled setup to loosen or tighten the top nut on a shock absorber while holding the shaft. The AF10 is a short tool with what looks like a blade for a slotted screw that is resessed.

Any idea what the second tool is for? I am pretty sure both tools came out of a Ford dealer.

There are a couple of other things I will try to identify as I get them cleaned up.

AF10 is a Chrysler Torqueflite automatic transmission band adjuster. They are both made by the New Britain Machine Company. It in my transmission service book.

Thanks dieseldodge01

Where that box of tools came from there has never been a Chrysler in the driveway of that family. Guess that AF10 is for a Chrysler too?

Does/did NBMCO make special tools for just Chrysler or others as well?

Bill,

I have a New Britain Catalog from 1961 that shows transmission tools for the Hydra-Matic in Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs and Cadillacs. The tool you was on a board for Plymouth, Dodges, DeSotos, Chrysler and Imperials. They also had tools for FordoMatic and MercoMatics. I think they covered everyone including Nash and Hudson.

I should also expend what I wrote, it is for adjusting the reverse band on TorqueFlite automatic. I have seen ones with just a 5/16 socket on the end, which is a APF-10. BTW as of Jan 1, 1958 the AF-10 would have cost you $10.55 from your local NAPA:bounce:

Sorry, just saw this...

It's a Hydra-Matic (Automatic Transmission) Band Adjusting Tool.
