That looks like one that a company called AMT (I think) used to sell through Popular Mechanics ads about 50 years ago. They sold the drill press (you supplied the washing machine or other motor) for about $35 or so if I remember correctly; and a table saw for about $45 (once again you supply the motor). I've still got my table saw. Seems like there was a third piece of equipment available but can't remember what it was.
See if any of our other old codgers remember these.

I'm not that old (but I may be a codger). That DP would have been sold in the mid-30's to maybe early 40's. Companion was the "economy" brand for Sears, with Craftsman being the "quality" brand. They were both essentially the same machine but one had less expensive components. Sears started replacing the Companion label with The Dunlap label around 1940, but there was some overlap as stock parts and inventory was used up.

The Companion name still pops up every now and then for short times every few years or so, I suspect it's only to keep the trademark active.

It's just a guess, but I'd bet that DP was made by Atlas.

There's one that looks very similar to that on Craigslist in CT. Unfortunately someone dropped it and the entire cast iron front section with the spindle/chuck/pulley snapped off.

They could have used that name at some point as well, not sure. But I don't remember seeing it on power tools, maybe handtools. :dunno:
