Need advice on floor prep

I am replacing the old carpet in the shop office with laminate flooring. The carpet is now out but I am having trouble removing the old glue from the concrete floor. Would a floor machine with sanding screens be the best method?
I also considered buying a scraper for my SDS or spline drive rotary hammer.

I seen guys use the "multi-tool" power tool with the end that's like a sharp oscillating scraper to do this and also remove old vinyl or tile mastic.

Franmar Chemical makes an eco-friendly mastic remover which works well. You can find it here; http://eco-buildingproducts.com/product-category/brands/franmar/

The Diamabrush removal tool on a floor buffer works also. You can rent it from your local Home Depot.

I don't think you need to get every speck of glue off the floor in order to lay laminate flooring down. Obviously, you can't have clumps of glue on the floor, those have to be removed. But I really don't think the floor needs to be "perfect" either. You lay down a pad first and then the flooring goes over the top of the pad so tiny imperfections in the floor won't be problem.

The more flat and smooth, the better.

Laminates and every other kind of floating floor prep spec call for flat and level to within about 3/16" in 10'. Leaving clumps of glue under the floor will make the floor sound hollow and feel springy, and will stress the joints over time.

The best case install for any floating floor is to have a dead flat subfloor that fully supports the floor covering. The pad will make up for a little bit of irregularity, but flatter is always better.

Sentinel Products also makes a couple enviro-friendly mastic removers we've had good luck with, their 747 would be the one to use if you can find it in MO.

Thought I would report my progress. I used one of the mastic removers along with a 6" scraper and had the floor prepped in ninety minutes.
Floor is finished and looks great!
If I ever get my camera and windows 10 to cooperate, I'll post pictures.
