I can not for the life of me, nor can my coworker, rember what this tool is called. At the two different places we both worked before they were supplied as specialty tools.

Not that this is the only thing they can be used on but, we need to to remove the retaining nut from the fuel injectors on a couple diesel John Deere's we are working on.

It basically is like a 12 point crows foot wrench but instead of putting a ratchet or extension right on by the wrench itself, a piece of flat or curved steel comes up and bends over, say maybe two or three inches up, and then your ratchet attaches to that. The ratchet drive is then centered over the wrench end.

The size we need is 15/16", but I know we had some smaller ones we used for removing various sending units. The ones I used were made by Snap On but I can't for the life of me find them on their site.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Adam

I looked though my Mac and Matco catalogues, and through OTC's online catalogue, and could not find what you're looking for. I no longer have access to Snap-On's full catalogue so I can't look there. I checked Lisle's website, but they didn't have it. Good luck with your search.

Thanks for looking. I have looked on their sites but can't find anything either. I appreciate you looking. Adam

Adam, if you don't get an answer in a couple of days, on Sunday I'll ask my brother who has been a diesel mechanic for 30 years.

Btw, today I finally got my shop wired for my welder. Let the good times begin. :bounce:

Hey Scott,

I would appreciate that. My coworker was a JD mechanic for about 5 years but doesn't have what we need either. He left on not so great terms either unfourtunately.

I would stop and borrow one from where I did work but my old boss is in Iraq now.

Good to hear you got that hooked up. You will be building all sorts of things now. You will have to let me know how it works out, I'm thinking of upgrading mine.

Thanks, Adam

What is the possibilities of you making something to do the job?

That's what we were discussing today. We can make one but we will be doing a few of these so we thought we could buy if possible. We've both used them so I know they do make them.

Thanks, Adam

For some reason the name "torque adapter" is bringing up thoughts of what you are talking about, I know most are straight, but I have seen them bend upward back inline with the nut. I have seen them and even used then a time or two but I can't recall who made them.

Thanks, I thought of those as well but still can't find exactly what I needed.

Thanks, Adam

I have one similar to the item you describe, but the 3/8 drive is not turned back over the wrench end. It is 9/16, and I have always referred to it as a "distributor wrench". It fits, and works extremely well on a distributor hold down for Chevy engines, and would likely work just as well on others.

Thanks guys, it is somewhat similar to a distributor wrench.

The snap on tool number you gave is similar to what it was but not quite. It would need to be 12 point too.

Thanks, Adam

yes the Snap on one is slightly diffrent than the ones I was thinking about too. Now that I think about it more the one I saw was more like a wrench (with a box end on one end and a square drive on the other) that was bent into a wide "U" and on the bottom of the wide part of the U was mounted a little snap in clip to hold the injector / spark plug /etc while you installed it I don't remember where I saw them though.....

What you described sounds exactly like what I'm talking about.

I'll have to see if my coworker had any luck this weekend.

Thanks, Adam

I thought that Snap on made one, but it's not in their new catalog or the 04-2006 price list. Also the part numbers are no good on their web page. So you might be looking for old stock

Thanks guys. Yep we checked, definately not available, at least that is what we were told. That is surprising I guess.

We made one that will work though. Thanks again. Adam

Sorry for not gettign back to you guys sooner. Those butterfly wrenches to look interesting, probably would not fit around the injector though. I wouldn't mind having a set of those though.

A crows foot wrench would probably work and I may need to get a 12 point one to put them back in. We got something made to get them out at any rate.

Thanks, Adam
