Need help with 220V timer diagram

This timer supports 120/220V AC and 12/24/48 V DC, but for me, it will be controlling a 220V heating element on a 25A breaker, a water heater.
It has a rechargable battery and saves timer schedule settings after power outages.

The diagram has two scenarios, A&B.
Question 1) I'm unsure which scenario to use, I assume B.
Question 2) I don't understand how the timer recharges off this 220V.. I probably shouldn't be concerned about this as my water heater only has only had red and black wires connected, not white or ground wires.

there is really not much differences between a and b, that timer switch only switch one leg...

So A look simple enough Line1 in, goes to a relay and what nots. Line 2 in go straight to load 2 (N) out.. as well as provide a complete circuit for the timer to operate...

B is about the same Line 1 in, line 2 in, probably providing the charge for the timer.... the Line 2 (N) just connect straight to the load2 (N) externally... and Line 1 is switched by the timer via the timer relay....Line 2(N) also connected on the supply side to provide a complete circuit for the charge / timer circuit.... but it doesn't connect to the load2(N) side since it load2(N) is directly connected to the supply Line2(N)

I would go with B if it is expected to be a larger load. I know I have some power exhaust control circuit board fried it's copper tracks due to temporary high current loads... I Had to fix with a jumper cable soldering in between the two points. Still doesn't guarantee Line 1 circuit traces are any better, but at least you'll eliminate one of them.
