Hi everyone, I'm a longtime lurker and I figured I'd finally post up some pictures of my build. I haven't documented everything from start to finish but I'll post what I have. My wife and I are going to be razing my in-laws house and rebuilding a new residence with an in-law apt. My in-laws are elderly and cannot care for their property at this point. To get things started, we are building a 30X40 garage with upstairs storage(Shed Dormer off back) and a high ceiling bay for a future lift. We'll be using the garage for short term storage until the new house is built. Then the garage will become the home for my 1968 Camaro as well as our plow truck, lawn equipment and kids toys. The plan right now is to rough finish the garage. We will be doing electrical and lighting later on at the same time as the new house as we'll need to trench for the power lines. I still haven't decided on final lighting layouts, air line routing, heating etc. Here are a few pics of what we have done so far.
Here you can see the small lawn equipment bay.

Here are the stairs and man door entryway. I am hoping to use the under stairs space as an air compressor "shed" at some point in the future.

We will be framing in some walls where the loft railing is so that we have additional wall space upstairs. We will leave an 8 foot opening with a hinged half wall. I plan on adding an I-Beam with hoist that spans the high bay so that we can lift items up into the loft if needed.

Looks like you are off to a great start. This is the same size that I am planning to build. Did you plan this or have the plans drawn for you?

Luckily, we have a few friends that are helping us out. One is an architect. He drafted the garage plan and the plans for the new house. My other buddy is in construction and will be overseeing the project for us. I am basically writing the checks and getting the coffee for the crews. We've been stuck in neutal for close to two years dealing with some town zoning, sewer/septic access issues but we finally are able to get started.

My wife and I currently live two houses down from my in-laws. We are selling our house to build the new one. Luckily, I do get along with them very well.

Here is a shot of my 1968 Camaro that will eventually call this garage home.

It would be nice to see how he finished off the place, but since he hasn't come back to show us before now, I have my doubts that he will ever come back.
