I stumbled across this site today when googling "how to raise a garage roof". I have to say, this is a great site; although one that I think will end up costing me a bunch of $ as I have in short time seen a bunch of cool ideas that I want to incorporate into my garage project.
My main issue at the moment is deciding whether I should tear down my existing 2 car garage and rebuild it as I want it to be, or work mostly with what I have.
Our's is a 20'w x 24'd 2 car. The wife parks her car in there and I park my 997 in there - along with all of the assorted stuff like bikes, tools, skis, etc. My truck sits in the driveway (off to the side of the garage entrance). And I am hoping to add another sports car which presents the main problem...
Due to setback restrictions, I cannot widen my garage and add another bay. And with the house and lot configuration, there is no other place to put a garage. So, I decided on a lift so I can stack to low slung sports cars on top of one another...but my ceiling is only 9' tall and the truss structure won't allow me to raise the ceiling.
So - what do I do?
1 - raise the building by 4'
or
2 - tear down and rebuild (to include a loft up top)?
I look forward to engaging with you all.
