new Gray Tools "Feel Like" old Snapon

I mentioned this in the new tool arrivals thread. Even though they don't look alike, when I pick up a my new Grays they really remind me of an old school snappy. Here is a pic of the two in comparison. Now the dimensions are completely different. But the feel...... seem exactly the same. Is it just me?

Snap-on gets a lot of their tools copied by other manufacturers. The manufacturers don't have to spend any expense on research and development; that's already done by Snap-on.

My coworkers' OEX wrenches from the 80s were made in Canada, I'm sure Gray made those.

If I recall correctly, Gray tools used to be made by Bonney. I believe another member here said that when Bonney went under, the name was bought by Snap On. Stands to reason that Snap On is making tools under the Gray name now as well?

Gray Canada has been in business for many years now.
At one point, they may have made tools for Snap-On up in Canada, but I am not 100% sure of that?

Ok BK, Snappy made in Mexico with a Z prefix to the part number.

I know of probably twelve wrenches among my friends tool kits.

Snap on had their own plant(s) in Canada, and I don't think Gray ever made anything for them and vice-versa.

And for the Gray-Bonney joint venture, I believe they made tools for each other during that period - certain things that say Gray would make in house, that Bonney didn't, Bonney would take the Gray product and have it stamped Bonney and vice-versa.

On a lot of the tools, you would see Gray-Bonney stamped right on there, and some of the items that I have from them would also have 'Made in Canada' or similar stamped on them.

Do it. Great tools and really reasonably priced.

That's really interesting info between Gray, Bonney, and Snap-On. All three of these are among my favorite top end brands for sockets, wrenches. Gray is really really hard to find in the US. Need more Canada residents selling Gray on Ebay so we can buy some down here but you need to move here first to make the shipping reasonable! - Paul
