New Mac "axis" fine tooth ratchets... and Proto?

The same essentially as the new Mac ratchet? they look very similar. I have an old fine tooth proto 1/4" which mimics the old mac "big dawg" and need to send it in for warranty. Im just wondering if Ill be getting myself one of those new Axis style ratchets

I don't believe they are the same; for one, the tooth count is different. The 45 tooth proto has been out much longer than the 90 tooth mac. Those 90 tooth macs came out about a year. Others can confirm.

No. The Proto premium pear head ratchets have been on the market for more than a few years and are no where close to being a new release.
The MAC axis ratchet is shaped differently on the head and handle, and has 90 teeth and the Proto premium only has 45 teeth. There might be a Proto version of the MAC Axis ratchet but, I wouldn't look for it for at least a year or two from now. Even then, the proto versions would probably only be available in standard lengths versions.

Definitely 2 different ratchets. I actually got a chance to play with one on the Mac truck this week. It's VERY nice. I'm waiting for 1/4" drive to be released. I use mainly1/4" drive but still may pick up a 3/8" drive as well. Mac guy said 1/2"drive is next then 1/4" last. Makes sense because Mac is marketed and sold mainly to Automotive Tech's.

Yeah Fed. I grbbed the XL protos and they are damned nice pieces.
I wanted the Mac-90 just because....I'm an idiot . So I recently bought the Wright 3/8 and 1/2 flex head dual pawl ratchets.....because I'm an idiot . But I got my 90 clicks !!

How is that Mac axis treating you? Do you use it a lot ? Is it your goto Ratchet? I'm thinking about these.

I have 2 of the Proto XL ratchets, I don't know when they started making them but the older ones have the older Proto logo in block letters, the 2 I have both have the newer logo like my avatar. I have the long version of both the 1/2 and 3/8, they don't make a long 1/4. I had seen on here that the Mac was a dual pawl variant, but probably hearsay.
