I've been lurking around here since 2007 but only made my first post today. I'm semi-retired, have been since the unemployment ran out. I started lurking here when planning a new shop. I had a shop at the old place since the early nineties designed and used for building hotrods. Since then I've morphed some into machining and its related tools. Three years ago it became obvious that We were going to have to move my aging father in with us so started the path to a new home as our place would not accomidate him and we could not live with him. Now the new home is in and a 36x48x14 shop is up. The old shop had hydronic heat throughout but I found that with time that I did not spend the time out there to justify heating the whole new place so I only installed hydronic heat in one 12x36' bay that is walled off from the rest of the shop. The heated area is the clean area forthe shop and will have the machine shop mostly in there. Above the heated area is an upper room that holds the craft area for the wife as well as tv and library. The first bay outside the clean room will have welding grinding and other 'dirty' machines. This bay does not have a roll up door. The last two bays have overhead doors that allow rigs to be brought in for repair. With 12' doors I can get the trucks and backhoe in as needed. I will add pictures if I can figure out how.
