Hello Everyone.

WORKSHOP BATHROOM ON SEPTIC

I found your group as I am doing research on septic system options. Please forgive me if I am a bit long winded, but I feel I need to give a bit of background to enable the forum to properly advise me of my options. During the pandemic I moved to Palm Beach Florida, into a rural residential community of ranch homes called the acreage. The homes are on independent well water and septic systems. Since we all work at home now and I am nearing retirement, I decided to turn the free standing 960 SF, about 18 ft vaulted ceilings with a loft in the back section, CBS concrete workshop/4 car garage into an ADU flex space of two units.
It is a finished space, with ceiling fans, insulated finished walls. It already has a dedicated AC, running water with sink, on a 3/4 inch pipe coming into the building which a plumber said is adequate. I want to put two bathrooms back to back and a small kitchenette. The building has it's own gated driveway with double carport so I will use the front unit as a guest house for occasional use . The back unit will remain the Gym, Art Studio and a home office. The building department told me it should be easy since it has all the trappings of an actual house, and as long as I am not doing any structural changes. I just need to use a certified plumber to do the bathroom and an electrician add or redirect any outlets. I can do any other cosmetic work myself.

Problem is I am getting all sorts of drama about the septic! According to my survey, the septic is about 40 to 50 feet away so I can't understand why I am being quoted in excess of $60K just for the plumbing!!! To run less than 100 feet of pipe and install a grinder, plus labor and permits? After reading recent posts on this forum. One guy was quoted in the $2K range for 100' of pipe and a grinder. I guess it is all highway robbery? Please help me understand my options...

I have a Liberty grinder pump on my shop that pumps through a 2” pvc line to my existing home septic tank for what that info is worth to you. I did the install myself with a helper to dig the trench by hand for about 100 feet, as he needed some extra cash. Pump with trouble alarm was $650, and along with piping and paying helper, around $1,000.
